How does the Library work?

Access the calendar's Library from any view via the Browse Library icon in your calendar's toolbar:

You can view your assets two different ways: the grid view and the list view. Easily toggle between the two whenever you are in the Library.

Inside the Library, you can do the following:

  1. Upload media files

  2. Manage your media assets

    1. Asset View

  3. Create slideshows from images

  4. Create Notes

  5. Create Post Templates

  6. Build a post

     

1. How to upload media files

 

 

  • Drag and drop photos, videos and PDFs

  • Upload photos, videos, and PDF documents, as well as create post templates and notes to be used later when creating new posts

  • Upload stock images directly to the Library using our Unsplash integration

  • Upload Google Drive photos & videos from our Google Drive integration

  • Use exported Canva designs by adding Loomly as an app in Canva

  • Share the Asset View with your collaborators to preview and download the asset, add assets to posts, edit the asset's metadata or image, track the asset's history including marking as used, and view asset details

 

2. How to manage my media assets

 

In the Library you can:

  • Edit new and existing files' metadata like renaming assets according to your internal conventions
    ​

  • Add Labels and categorize items in your library to track campaigns. When you create a post from one or multiple items in your library, labels from that/these item(s) is/are automatically applied to your new post. You can easily bulk edit labels if you need to update multiple library items at the same time (Select all the assets you would like to update, then click Label Asset on the top right);

  • Add descriptions to each Library Asset, making it easier to identify your assets. When you add a description to a note and create a post from that note, the description is automatically used as the caption of the post (which you can edit as necessary). If you create a post from multiple notes, descriptions will be combined to form the caption of the post;

  • Apply changes to multiple files with bulk actions

💡Tip: You can select multiple assets in order quickly by selecting the first asset, pressing shift on your keyboard, then selecting the last asset you would like selection

  • Filter your assets by labels, types, unused assets, dates added, or dates used, so you can easily find an asset

📝 Note:

  • When you add a description to a Note and create a post from that note, the description is automatically used as the post's caption (which you can edit as necessary). If you create a post from multiple notes, descriptions will be concatenated to form the post's caption.

  • Description for Photo Details and Video Details will not be added to your caption.

 

From the Asset View, you can:

  • Preview, edit, delete, and download media asset

  • View asset details such as the type, date created, file size, and dimensions

  • Add an asset to a post

  • Track asset history to see when an asset was created and also used in posts

  • Mark as used any media assets you happened to publish a media asset outside of Loomly, so you and your collaborators can better track your assets and see where and when an asset was used with access to the post link

  • Upload a new version of unused media file assets, so you can have the most recent version of your media asset to use on any future posts

  • Use the Edit Image resize, crop, add filters to, add text to, and even more using Loomly Studio. Or use the Edit Video to trim, crop, finetune, and more using Loomly Studio.

    • Note: The Asset must not be used to use Loomly Studio in the Library. If it has been used, please go to the post where the Asset was used and edit the image from there.

To access the Asset View:

  • Select the additional asset menu options in any view, then select View Asset from the menu

  • Click on the thumbnail in the List View


​📝 Note:

  • If the media asset has already been used in a post, then you will need to upload a new asset to the library

     

  • You can also copy the Asset View URL to share the Asset View with your collaborators easily.

    • Select the Asset option from the main Library view, then select the "Copy Link" icon to copy the URL.
      ​

       

    • Otherwise, you can select an Asset, expand the menu in Library Actions, and select "Copy Link"

 

 

3. How to create a video slideshow from images

You can use images from your library to create a slideshow from your selected images.

 

Image requirements

  • Image format: .jpg or .png

  • The images must have the same image ratios (e.g. 4 images in 1:1 aspect ratio with the dimension 1200 px x 1200 px)

  • 📝 Note: The image aspect ratios can be different if the image format for all pictures are the same (e.g. all .png files), but please note that this may distort your images

To create a slideshow from your library

  1. Select multiple images (either all JPG or all PNG images)

  2. Click Create Slideshow

  3. Type in the Video Name, Width, Height, and Duration of each frame (seconds)

  4. Click Create

💡 Tip: Add images to your library with our Unsplash integration, so you can create visually appealing videos using stock images across the web!

 

 

4. How to create a Note

 

You can create notes in a calendar's library, which allow you to save text and links in your library. This is ideal when you come across a website you find useful or when someone in your team mentions an idea during a meeting.

To create a note:

 

1. Click on the Add Asset button ( + button on the top right)
2. Select Note from the dropdown

3. Complete the Subject, add Label(s), and add the note in the description section 
4. Click Create to save the note to the Library

 

 

5. How to create a Post Template

You can create post templates and reuse them whenever you need them. This is great when you have an idea for a post but don’t know yet when to publish it. This is also quite handy when you need a boilerplate for recurring posts that you want to publish over and over again with slight updates.

 

 

To create a post template

1. Click on the Add Asset button ( + button on the top right)
2. Select Template from the dropdown
3. Complete the sections as you normally would for a post in Post Builder

4. Click Create Post Template on the footer bar on the bottom right

 

 

To create a post from a Post Template

1. Select the Post Template you would like to use
2. Click Create Post
3. This will take you to the Post Builder where you can adjust the Scheduled Date & Time and make any changes you would like before scheduling your post

 

💡 Tip: You can click Schedule to save time.

 

 

 

Of course, you can select any file — and even multiple files — in your library and create a post from there.

 

Conversely, you can access your library from Post Builder and simply select a file — or multiple files — on the fly when creating a new post.  

 

 

6. How to create a post from the Library

 

You can easily create posts from files directly from a calendar's library. Here are some files that will be accessible from your calendar's library:

  • Media that was uploaded directly to the Library

  • Media from posts scheduled through Loomly

  • Notes and Post Templates created within the Library

 

To create a post from the library:

1. Select a calendar where you would like to create a post
2. Go to the Library

 

3. For the post you'd like to create, choose a single image, multiple images, a note, a single video, a combination of image(s) with a note, or a combination of a single video with a note 
4. Select Create
5. Select either New Post

 


The selected files will populate into Post Builder, then you can make necessary adjustments before scheduling your new post.

 

📝 Note: You can also create posts from the Asset View of the Library Asset.

  • Posts can be created from a media file, note, and post template's Asset View
